Should the weather turn bad enough to cancel school, here is our policy:
1) If we are closing school, our school's name will appear on the ticker at the bottom of the
KSWO (Channel 7) screen. It will also appear on this web site.
2) Rarely do we make a decision regarding the closing of school for weather prior to 6:00 a.m. the morning of the school day in question. Even if the public schools announce
their closings the evening before, we tend to wait till the morning of. The public schools
have closed school the night before and then the snow didn't come or wasn't as bad as
predicted.
3) Generally, we are closed the same days as the public schools. However, we do not have
the bus issues with which the larger school have to deal. Often we will start back to
school BEFORE the public schools. You as the parent have the right to decide whether
the roads you must travel to get here are safe or not. If you decide they are not safe, your
child's absence is counted as excused. We open if the main roads are clear because
many of our clientele must go back to work.
4) No matter how much it kills you to wait, please do not call Mr. or Mrs. Johnson or Mrs.
Smith to see what they are thinking they might do. As soon as Mrs. Johnson makes a
decision, she will call KSWO and she will ask me to put it on the site. Any calling before
you see it on the site will only frustrate the caller and the callee. We thank you ahead of
time!
